Now that solar cycle 25 is energizing the upper HF Bands, you may want to try propagation on the 6 meter band...a band that exhibits both HF and VHF characteristics.
Simple 6 meter antennas are easily built using commonly available materials.
In this video from Chuck (KK6USY), we get a good tutorial on how to build a basic Moxon Antenna for the 6 meter band. All you need are a few simple tools, some wire, and a few pieces of PVC pipe.
